Uganda Rugby Union Confirms Quarterfinal and Relegation Playoff Dates for 2025/2026 Season

Following the conclusion of the 2025/2026 Uganda Rugby Premiership regular season, the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has announced the dates for the quarterfinals and relegation playoffs.

According to a statement shared on the federation’s social media platforms, the quarterfinals will, for the first time, include fixtures played on a Sunday and will take place over three consecutive days — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — on May 15, 16, and 17, 2026.

The quarterfinal action will begin on Friday, May 15, with Heathens Rugby Club taking on Victoria Sharks.

On Saturday, May 16, Stanbic Black Pirates will face Walukuba Barbarians, while Makerere Impis will battle KCB Kobs in another highly anticipated encounter.

The final quarterfinal match will be played on Sunday, May 17, with Toyota Buffaloes taking on Plascon Mongers.

Meanwhile, the relegation playoffs are scheduled for June 6 and 7, 2026.

Rhinos Rugby Club will face Warriors Rugby Club, while the other playoff fixture will feature a Jinja derby between Hippos Rugby Club and Kakira Simbas. The clash will also be a repeat of last season’s final.

The Uganda Rugby Premiership regular season came to an end over the weekend of May 9, 2026, with Stanbic Black Pirates finishing top of the standings with 47 points.

URU also confirmed that details regarding venues, ticketing, and broadcasting arrangements for the playoffs will be communicated at a later date.
