Ainembabazi Fires Kampala Queens Into FUFA Women’s Cup Semi-Finals

Kampala Queens 1-0 St Noa Girls

Lady Doves 1-0 UCU Lady Cardinals

Joanitah Ainembabazi scored the decisive goal as Kampala Queens secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over St Noa Girls.

In a tightly contested quarter-final played under the scorching sunshine at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, Ainembabazi emerged as the hero after coming off the bench to score the all-important winner in the second half.

Before kick-off, a moment of silence was observed in memory of former She Corporate FC captain Cissy Nantongo, who passed away earlier this week.

Both sides displayed great determination in pursuit of a semi-final berth, resulting in a cautious first half that ended goalless.

Ainembabazi, introduced at the start of the second half, broke the deadlock with 25 minutes remaining.

The former She Corporate striker curled a brilliant effort that struck the post before finding the back of the net.

Kampala Queens then defended resolutely to preserve their slender advantage and eliminate a stubborn St Noa side.

The victory also served as sweet revenge for Kampala Queens, who were knocked out of the competition by St Noa at the same stage last season following a 3-2 defeat at Lugogo.

Having failed to retain the FUFA Women Super League title, Kampala Queens will now be hoping to finish the season with silverware by winning the FUFA Women’s Cup.

Meanwhile, Lady Doves also booked their place in the semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over UCU Lady Cardinals in Masindi.

Cecilia Apiding scored the decisive goal as the Masindi-based side edged past the former champions to keep their title hopes alive.

The semi-final line-up will be completed on Sunday when Kawempe Muslim host Wakiso Hill WFC, while She Maroons face defending champions Amus College in the remaining quarter-final fixtures.
