Allan Okello Helps Young Africans Retain NBC Premier League Title

Ugandan international Allan Okello played a key role as Young Africans SC defeated JKT Tanzania 3-0 away from home on Tuesday to successfully retain the NBC Premier League title.

Prince Dube, Maxi Nzengeli and Depu were all on target as Young Africans secured a comfortable victory to finish the season as league champions.

Dube gave the visitors an early lead in the eighth minute, and Young Africans carried the slender advantage into the halftime break.

JKT Tanzania’s task became even more difficult before halftime after Hassan Wahabi was sent off, reducing the hosts to 10 men.

Young Africans doubled their advantage just six minutes into the second half when Maxi Nzengeli found the back of the net after being set up by Okello.

Depu added the third goal later in the match to seal an emphatic victory and spark title celebrations for the defending champions.

Despite Simba SC defeating KMC FC 1-0 in their final league match, they finished second on 73 points, two behind champions Young Africans, who ended the campaign with 75 points.

Both Young Africans and Simba SC have secured qualification for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.

Okello, who joined Young Africans from Vipers SC at the start of 2026 after the league season had already begun, enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign.

The Uganda Cranes midfielder scored 14 league goals and provided six assists in 23 appearances, finishing as the club’s top scorer and the league’s third-highest scorer behind Azam FC’s Salum Toto (15), and topscorer Mossi Nduwumwe of Singida Black Stars, who claimed the Golden Boot with 17 goals.

Young Africans wrapped up the season with an impressive record of 23 wins, six draws and just one defeat, accumulating 75 points from their 30 league matches to successfully defend the NBC Premier League crown.
