Ghana Appoint Former Real Madrid Coach
The Ghana Football Association has appointed Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, replacing Otto Addo.
The appointment follows recent changes within the national team setup as Ghana prepares for the global tournament.
Queiroz is a vastly experienced manager who has handled top clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as national teams including Portugal and Iran.
Known for his tactical discipline and World Cup experience, he is expected to bring stability and structure to the Black Stars.
Queiroz was in charge of South Africa when they qualified for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
The former Real Madrid tactician guided Portugal to 2010 FIFA World Cup knockout stage, and he was also in charge of Iran in 2014 and 2018.
He takes charge at a crucial moment as Ghana intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite boasting top talents such as Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus, the team will be looking to bounce back and compete strongly under new leadership.
At the tournament, Ghana have been drawn in a group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.
They are scheduled to face Panama in their opening match on June 18.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19.
