João Gabriel Parts Ways With KCCA FC

Forward João Gabriel Esteves Cardoso has officially parted ways with KCCA FC after the termination of his contract, bringing an end to his three-year stay at the club.

The Brazilian confirmed his departure through his official social media platforms, where he penned an emotional farewell message to the club, his teammates and the fans.

Gabriel had signed a two-year contract extension in 2025 that was due to run until 2027. However, both parties have agreed to terminate the deal with one year remaining.

In his farewell message, the forward thanked everyone associated with KCCA FC for their support throughout his time at the club.

“Today, I say goodbye to the club that welcomed me, believed in me and gave me the opportunity to live a dream I once only imagined.

We shared days of struggle, overcoming, joy and lessons that will stay with me for life. Every training session, every match, every cheer and every staff member were part of my growth.

To all my teammates, the technical staff and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for your daily support, professionalism and friendship. You were essential on this journey.

And most of all, to the fans: you are the heart of KCCA FC. Your support pushed me further in both the best and toughest moments. You made me feel at home from day one.

I’ll carry unforgettable memories, the certainty that I always gave my best, and the pride of having worn this shirt.

This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later.”

A fan favourite during his spell at Lugogo, Gabriel’s time at KCCA FC was disrupted by injuries and limited playing time, which prevented him from consistently establishing himself in the starting lineup.

Before joining KCCA FC, the Brazilian forward featured for Flamengo’s U20 side and German club FCA Darmstadt.

Gabriel becomes the latest player to leave the Kasasiro Boys during the current transfer window, following the departures of Sharif Ssengendo, who joined Entebbe UPPC, and midfielder Joel Sserunjogi, who completed a move to Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC on a three-year contract.
