Ndugwa Nears Move to Continental Football

Uganda Premier League side Kitara FC have opened talks with striker Karim Ndugwa over a potential move to Hoima ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Royals, who will represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup following their 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph, are keen to strengthen their squad as they prepare for continental football.

Ndugwa is currently a free agent after being among the 10 players released by BUL FC earlier this month.

The experienced forward has attracted interest from several clubs, but Kitara FC have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

According to reliable sources, Ndugwa is expected to meet Kitara officials this week for further discussions regarding a possible move to the Hoima-based side.

The prolific striker scored eight goals in the Uganda Premier League last season and remains one of the most experienced forwards available on the market.

Kitara FC will host their CAF Confederation Cup matches at Hoima City Stadium and are determined to assemble a competitive squad capable of making an impact on the continental stage.

The Royals earned qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup and are targeting a better continental campaign than their previous appearance.

In 2024, Kitara were eliminated by Libyan side Al Hilal Benghazi 6-4 on aggregate in the first preliminary round of the competition.

Recently, club president Deo Kasozi outlined the club’s continental ambitions, revealing that Kitara’s target is to progress beyond the preliminary rounds and reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Ndugwa’s wealth of experience could prove vital in helping the Royals achieve that objective.

The striker has previously featured for BUL FC, Hambericho Durame, Vipers SC, Express FC, Wakiso Giants FC, AFC Leopards, and SC Villa, among other clubs.
