SC Villa vs URA FC, 7pm – Kadiba (Agg. 2-0)
———————————————————————————————
SC Villa will be aiming to secure a place in the final of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup when they host URA FC in the semi-final return leg on Saturday evening at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
The Jogoos head into the decisive encounter holding a comfortable 2-0 aggregate advantage from the first leg, courtesy of goals from Najib Yiga and an own goal by Moses Aliro.
Kitara FC booked their place in the final on Friday after eliminating Vipers SC on the away goals rule following a 1-1 draw at Kitende, and they now await the winner between SC Villa and URA FC.
SC Villa only need to avoid a defeat by two or more goals to progress to the final, while URA FC must win 2-0 to force penalties or secure a victory by at least three goals to qualify directly.
The last time URA FC visited SC Villa at Kadiba, the Jogoos registered a convincing 3-0 victory, highlighting the challenge awaiting the Tax Collectors this evening.
However, URA have already shown resilience in this competition. In the quarter-finals, they came from two goals down against KCCA to draw 2-2 before progressing on penalties after trailing 2-0 at halftime.
Both teams are targeting the Uganda Cup as their only realistic chance of silverware this season after falling out of the Uganda Premier League title.
It has been 11 years since SC Villa last lifted the Uganda Cup trophy after defeating KCCA FC 3-0 in a replayed final at Nakivubo Stadium.
The Jogoos are chasing a record-extending 10th Uganda Cup title, which would see them move level with KCCA FC and Express FC as the competition’s joint most successful clubs, while URA FC are seeking their fourth title.
URA FC will, however, be without several players, including Olimi Nyarwa, Arthur Kiggundu, Bright Vuni and goalkeeper Abdu Magada, all of whom are sidelined through injury.
