WATCH: Okello Receives Uganda Premier League Winner’s Medal After Vipers Triumph
Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Allan Okello has received his 2025/26 Uganda Premier League winner’s medal following Vipers SC’s successful league campaign.
The medal was presented to Okello by Vipers SC midfielder and 2025/26 Uganda Premier League Most Valuable Player Karim Watambala at the Uganda Cranes training camp in Morocco.
Okello was part of the Vipers squad that won the league title, featuring in several first-round matches before completing a move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans at the start of this year.
Before his departure, the attacking midfielder had registered three goals and three assists in seven league appearances for the Venoms.
After Vipers were officially crowned champions on Saturday, May 23, the club confirmed that Okello would receive a winner’s medal despite leaving midway through the season.
The promise was fulfilled as Watambala handed the medal to a delighted Okello in Morocco, where the Uganda Cranes are preparing for upcoming international friendlies.
“I’m thankful and grateful to receive this medal. I thank the president, Dr Lawrence Mulindwa, the players, the technical team, and everyone at Vipers. I left, but they made sure they fought until the end to win the league,” Okello said.
The midfielder also jokingly appealed to club president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa to include him among the beneficiaries of the club’s UGX 300 million title-winning bonus.
“I kindly request president Dr Lawrence Mulindwa to include me in the UGX 300 million winning bonus,” Okello added with a smile.
Dr Mulindwa had pledged a UGX 300 million bonus to the team if they won the league and later fulfilled the promise after Vipers secured their eighth Uganda Premier League title.
Okello and Watambala are currently with the Uganda Cranes squad ahead of two international friendly matches against Tanzania and Madagascar.
Uganda will face Tanzania on Friday before taking on Madagascar on Monday, with both matches set to be played in Morocco.
