KCCA FC 1-0 NEC FC
Venue: Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo

KCCA FC have been crowned champions of the 2026 FUFA Super 8 tournament following a 1-0 victory over NEC FC in the final at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Tuesday night.

Midfielder Saidi Mayanja’s first-half penalty was enough to secure victory for the Lugogo-based side and hand them the coveted trophy.

The triumph ended KCCA’s eight-year wait for silverware and marked their first title under head coach Brian Ssenyondo.

It has been an impressive campaign for KCCA, who produced strong performances from the opening round. They began by eliminating BUL FC in the quarter-finals, overcame Kitara FC in the semi-finals and then saw off NEC FC in the final.

Against NEC, the turning point came in the 36th minute when the referee awarded KCCA a penalty after Yunus Sibira was brought down by NEC midfielder Daniel Shabene inside the box.

Mayanja, who had been one of KCCA’s standout performers throughout the tournament, stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to put his side ahead.

The goal proved decisive as KCCA held on to claim the trophy.

Despite falling behind, NEC created several opportunities in search of an equaliser.

Richard Basangwa came close on two occasions, while Joseph Seremba also sent an effort over the bar as NEC pushed for a way back into the game.

In the dying minutes, KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa produced a crucial save to deny Enrique Lubwama, stretching fully to keep out the effort and preserve his side’s lead.

The victory hands KCCA their first silverware of the season and provides a major boost as they prepare for the upcoming Uganda Premier League campaign.
