Revealed: Why Al Ahly Moved Swiftly to Sign Crested Cranes Forward Catherine Nagadya
Crested Cranes forward Catherine Nagadya has completed her move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly from FUFA Women Super League side Kampala Queens during the ongoing transfer window.
However, the deal was completed swiftly, and the reason behind Al Ahly’s decision has now been revealed.
The Egyptian side were looking for a versatile and creative Ugandan forward to strengthen their squad, and Nagadya emerged as the perfect fit for the club’s requirements.
The 21-year-old winger has already been unveiled by Al Ahly, signing a two-year contract with the Egyptian giants.
According to reliable sources, Nagadya has impressed the Al Ahly coaching staff ahead of the new season, which is scheduled to kick off on September 11, 2026.
Her versatility was a key factor in Al Ahly’s decision to sign her. Nagadya can operate on either flank, as a centre-forward, central midfielder or attacking midfielder, and has already demonstrated her ability to play in these positions during training sessions at the club.
Despite being just 21, Nagadya has already won three FUFA Women’s Cup titles — becoming the only player to achieve the feat — as well as one league title.

The skillful forward made her Crested Cranes debut against Tanzania three years ago, scoring on her international debut.
Last season, Nagadya scored 10 league goals and registered five assists, ending the season as the club’s topscorer.
During her time at Kampala Queens, Nagadya made 47 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 13 assists. She won a league title and one FUFA Women’s Cup during that period.
Before joining Kampala Queens in 2023, she spent time at Uganda Martyrs, where she made 58 appearances, scored 20 goals and registered 25 assists. She also captained the club to the 2023 FUFA Women’s Cup title.
Nagadya also had a spell at Makerere University, where she won another FUFA Women’s Cup title.
Her consistency has been remarkable. Nagadya has recorded at least 12 goal contributions in every season over the past five seasons in the FUFA Women Super League, underlining her quality and reliability in the final third.
At just 21, Nagadya has established herself as one of Uganda’s most consistent players over the past several years, and her move to Al Ahly represents another major step in her rapidly developing career.
